Adding Fun Poems to Your Scrapbook Pages
by Rachel Webb

Description: Tips for adding poems to your scrapbook layouts.

Adding short poems to your scrapbook pages are a quick and easy way to keep your scrapbook pages interesting and that's not all!

1. Poems Can Define a Picture

Scrapbookers who are struggling to find the words to journal a picture need only to find the right poem that says it all.

2. Layouts Become a Work of Art.

Certainly a scrapbook layout is a wonderful form of artistic expression. When your page includes skillful photographs and a creative poem your page is easily transformed into a work of art.

3. Adding a Favorite Poem can Help Personalize Your Layout.

Even if the poem you choose is not written by you, your family can learn to appreciate your personal prose.

4. Emotions Can Be Expressed Easily Through Poems.

What may take pages of journaling to express can often be accomplished with a few short lines of poetry. Sometimes only music or poetry can bring such strong human emotions so quickly.

Sample Poems:

TODDLERS RULES
if i like it...its mine
if its in my mouth...its mine
if i can take it from you...its mine
if i had it a little while ago...its mine
if its mine...it must never appear to be yours in any way
if i'm playing with something...all the pieces are mine
if it looks like mine...its mine
if your playing with something and you put it down...its mine
if its broken...its yours.

DAY OLD CHILD
My day old child lay in my arms,
With my lips against his ear.
I whispered strongly, "How I wish--
I wish that you could here,

"I've a hundred wonderful things to say,
(a tiny cough and a nod),
hurry, hurry, hurry and grow
So I can tell you about God."

My day-old baby's mouth was still
And my words only tickled his ear,
But a kind of light passed through his eyes,
And I saw this thought appear:

"How I wish I had a voice and words,
I've a hundred things to say.
Before I forget, I'd tell you of God --
I left Him yesterday."

GUARDIAN TEDDY BEAR
I am your guardian teddy bear
I'm looking out for you
Just pull me close and hug me tight
whenever you feel blue.

Just tell me when you're feeling sad
I listen very well
Your hopes, your dreams, your troubles too
I promise not to tell

Share with me all your secret thoughts
Don't hold back anything
Just know that I'll be by your side
Whatever life may bring.

You are a very precious friend
your special as can be
nobody else is quite like you
And I should know, you see.

Because I am a teddy bear
And teddy bears are wise
We watch and learn our whole lives through
We're Einstein's in disguise.

So let me give you some advise
Always stand proud and tall
Be thankful for your special gifts
Because you have it all.
And I'll keep looking out for you
Just know that I am there
I am your biggest fan, you know
Cause I'm your teddy bear."
