Quilted Holiday Greeting
by Mary Wilkins - sewwhatsnew@hfx.eastlink.ca

Description: How to make a quilted holiday greeting card.

Sponsored links:

This cute little greeting card can be made up in a few minutes with a thoughtful handwritten message.

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

1 piece muslin 2 1/2" x 4"
1 scrap thin batting 3 1/2" x 5"
border strips 1" x 6" holiday fabric
backing 3 1/2" x 5" holiday fabric
ribbon or twine for hanging on tree

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SEWING:

Stitch border strips to short sides of muslin using a 1/4" seam allowance. Stitch border to longer top and bottom of muslin. Press seam allowances toward darker fabric. With permanent marker write your message on muslin and press with hot iron to set the wording. Layer batting, front right side up and backing, right side down. Stitch around outer edge using a 1/4" seam allowance. Leave a 2" opening to turn. Turn greeting card right side out and hand stitch up opening and ribbon or twine to the back for hanging.

Greetings can be personalized to fit the recipient or you can design them all the same. Embellish with jingle bells, holiday buttons or maybe fuse a holiday motif to one corner.

Happy Holidays to all! Enjoy.
