"Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!" -- Creative Thank You Note Ideas
by Jane Payne
Description: Creative, thoughtful ideas for thank you notes.
Thomas S. Monson said, “A sincere ‘thank you’ (can) lift a heavy heart,
inspire a good deed, and bring heaven’s blessings closer to the
challenges of our day.”
Handwritten notes of thanks can be looked at again and
again and can be sent for many different occasions:
- being a dinner guest,
- being the recipient of a favor, gift, or act of service,
- hearing a great speaker,
- learning of an act of bravery or kindness,
- reading a well-written book, or
- being a houseguest.
The seven components for a proper “thank you” note include:
* Start sincerely
* Express gratitude
* Explain how you plan to use the gift, if applicable
* Add a genuine compliment
* Mention the past—allude to the future (“Great to see you at Kim’s
wedding, hope to see you again soon!”)
* Express gratitude again
* Sign off with warm regards
(Note this isn’t the time to fill them in on the news of
your life; this is a time to focus on their generosity. Save your news
for another letter or upcoming Christmas card.)
Sometimes a “thank you” token is a nice touch, too. Below
are several ideas:
