"Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!" -- Creative Thank You Note Ideas
by Jane Payne

Description: Creative, thoughtful ideas for thank you notes.

Thomas S. Monson said, “A sincere ‘thank you’ (can) lift a heavy heart, inspire a good deed, and bring heaven’s blessings closer to the challenges of our day.”

Handwritten notes of thanks can be looked at again and again and can be sent for many different occasions:

- being a dinner guest,

- being the recipient of a favor, gift, or act of service,

- hearing a great speaker,

- learning of an act of bravery or kindness,

- reading a well-written book, or

- being a houseguest.

The seven components for a proper “thank you” note include:

* Start sincerely

* Express gratitude

* Explain how you plan to use the gift, if applicable

* Add a genuine compliment

* Mention the past—allude to the future (“Great to see you at Kim’s wedding, hope to see you again soon!”)

* Express gratitude again

* Sign off with warm regards

(Note this isn’t the time to fill them in on the news of your life; this is a time to focus on their generosity. Save your news for another letter or upcoming Christmas card.)

Sometimes a “thank you” token is a nice touch, too. Below are several ideas:

1. I’m soda-lighted you would help me out! (favorite flavor of soda)

2. We're pasta-tively grateful for your help! (pasta and sauce)

3. Your help came just in "brine"! (jar of pickles)

4. Your dinner was worth writing home about! Thanks! (stationery and envelopes)

5. Your visit was de-light-ful! (box of light bulbs or candle)

6. Thanks a bunch for coming through in a CRUNCH! (Nestle Crunch bars)

7. Thanks for being there to CHIP in when we moved! (Small bag of potato chips)

8. Your help will make a difference Now & Later. (Now & Later candies).

9. Thanks a mint for all you did to help us. (York Peppermint Patty)

10. It's plane to see you’re a great kid. Thanks! (paper airplane)

11. Thank you for chewsing to help us! (package of gum)

12. We have Reisen to thank you! (Reisen candy)

13. We're tickled you came to see us! (feather)

14. It's a ball coming to your house. Thanks! (small ball)

15. Thanks for pudding up with us! (pudding cup)

16. Donut forget that the circle of your influence will go on forever (donuts)

17. We kneaded your help. Thanks! (bread)

18. Your kindness helped us to “heel,” thanks! (bread)

19. Thanks a bunch for lunch! (bananas, banana bread, banana pie)
