Make A Dried Flower Wall Hanging
by Janice Wee

Description: How to make an easy dried flower wall hanging.

I used to make wall hangings featuring dried flowers years ago. These are easy to make. All you need are

  • a disposable bowl (paper or plastic) that you can cut easily with a pair of scissors.
  • Florist foam
  • 2 sheets of very thick cardboard each the size of the frame you want
  • Glue that can stick to the foam and the bowl and the cardboard.
  • Dried flowers
  • Paint
  • Very strong thick string or fishing line to hang the wall hanging.

Now cut the bowl in half.

Plan out your frame. What shape do you want it to be?

It has to be substantially larger than that half bowl as you need to make room for the frame.

Cut both sheets of cardboard into the shape of your chosen frame

1 sheet would be the backing inside, the other would be just the frame.

Make 2 holes in the backing that would be hidden behind the frame. Tie the string through both holds on the outer side of the backing. This will be used to hang the final dried flower wall hanging.

For the frame, cut out the inside of the frame so you just have the outer frame intact. Now glue the outer frame to the backing.

Your half bowl will be the flower basket. Glue that flower basket to the backing of the frame, with plenty of space above the bowl for your dried flowers. Wait for the glue to set.

If you used a paper bowl, you could paint it for a more interesting look. If you used a plastic bowl, you could glue strips of paper soaked in glue, wait for the paper to dry, then paint it. Let the paint dry before proceeding.

Glue the florist foam to the inside of your flower basket. Wait for the glue to set.

Then arrange your dried flowers into the flower basket, securing the flowers into the florist foam.

You're done. Hang up your dried flower wall hanging for everyone to see.
