Fun Cards: Christmas Cards Kids Can Make

Christmas is obviously a great time for everyone, but the kids can definitely have the most fun when it comes to making cards. These "Fun Cards" will keep them entertained for hours, whilst you either sit back and relax or join in with the preparations.

"Fun Cards" are very easy to make and only involve a few simple steps. They can be as bright and funny as you want them to be. To make them you will need the following things:

  • Folded cards and envelopes
  • Sheets of coloured card
  • Cotton wool
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Glue stick
  • Sticky tape – ordinary or double-sided
  • Chocolate coins
Instructions:
  1. First of all, you will need some blank cards – these can be bought in packs of around ten or more and come complete with envelopes. Decide what design you would like on your card and then select the appropriate materials.
  2. If you are going to make a Christmas tree card, then you will need to draw a Christmas tree on a piece of green card and then draw a pot for your tree on a piece of red card; cut them both out. Then stick both pieces onto your card as shown in the picture – do ensure that the tree is the right size to fit on your card, before you begin cutting it out.
  3. If, on the other hand, you would prefer to make a snowman, you will need to draw a rough shape of a snowman on your card and then stick cotton wool over the entire area – don’t use too much cotton wool, otherwise it will make your card too thick. Flatten the cotton wool down a bit with your hand and then cut out a hat, eyes, nose and scarf from pieces of coloured card and glue them on.
  4. You are now ready for the interesting bit, and that is the chocolate coins. Using double-sided sticky tape or small pieces of rolled up sticky tape, stick on some chocolate coins to make decorations on your tree, or buttons for your snowman. Your cards are now ready to give to your friends and family and will look stunning on any windowsill or mantelpiece.
Once you have got used to making your cards, you might like to try some of your own designs, such as, a Father Christmas with some coins in his sack, or a bicycle in the snow with coins for wheels. You could consider using glitter on your cards too, as this will make them sparkle when the light catches them. Whatever you decide, just let your imagination flow and remember they are only fun and don’t need to be perfect!
